Biography of the Pianist and Fortepianist Joan Travé
Pianist and Fortepianist
Lecturer an the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt
Lecturer at the Peter-Cornelius-Konservatorium in Mainz
In 2008, he made his first performance with orchestra, interpreting Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto. Since then, he has given concerts in numerous venues across various European countries. Often, the programs of his recitals present a broad musical spectrum, from pieces of the English Renaissance to avant-garde works for piano. In 2020, he gave a concert at the prestigious Chopin Festival in Valldemossa, which was the first two-piano concert in the history of the festival.
Encounters with musicians such as Lorenzo Coppola, Eva Maria Pollerus, and Carmen Leoni allowed him to discover his passion for performance with historical criteria and musical practice with period instruments. He has studied fortepiano and romantic pianos with Jesper Christensen. Immersion in the sounds and forms of expressing music from other eras through the study of instruments, documents, and historical recordings occupies an important part of his activity. In recent years, he has undertaken various research projects; one of them—on the manuscript of the Nocturne in C-sharp Minor by F. Chopin—he presented at a conference as part of the Chopin Chair at the Cartuja de Valldemossa.
Chamber music holds a special place in his daily musical life. He is a co-founding member of the Polymos Ensemble, a chamber group formed by musicians from different countries exploring very diverse repertoires. The ensemble has recently performed concerts in Mallorca, Frankfurt, Madrid, Hamburg, and León.
